3. Δυστυχισμένοι οι πτωχοί τω πνεύματι, γιατί όπως ήταν πάνω στη γη, θα είναι και κάτω απ’ τη γη.

11. Ευλογημένοι οι ελεήμονες, γιατί η ευτυχία τους θα είναι να ελεούν κι όχι να περιμένουν ανταπόδοση.
12. Ευλογημένοι όσοι έχουν καθαρή καρδιά, γιατί βλέπουν το Θεό.
13. Ευλογημένοι όσοι διώκονται για χάρη του δίκιου, γιατί τους νοιάζει περισσότερο το δίκιο απ’ ό,τι η ανθρώπινη μοίρα τους.
14. Κανείς δεν είναι το αλάτι της γης, μα και κανένας δεν υπάρχει που να μην ήταν σε κάποια στιγμή της ζωής του.
15. Ν’ ανάβει το φως του λυχναριού κι ας μην το βλέπει κανένας. Θα το δει ο Θεός.
16. Δεν υπάρχει εντολή που να μην παραβαίνεται, ακόμα και αυτά που λέω, κι αυτά που έχουν πει οι προφήτες.
17. Κείνος που θα σκοτώσει κινημένος απ’ το δίκιο, ή από κείνο που πιστεύει για δίκιο, δεν είναι ένοχος.
18. Οι ανθρώπινες πράξεις δεν αξίζουν ούτε για την κόλαση, ούτε για τους ουρανούς.
19. Να μη μισείς τον εχθρό σου, γιατί αν το κάνεις, γίνεσαι κατά κάποιον τρόπο σκλάβος του. Το μίσος σου, δε θα σε ικανοποιήσει περισσότερο από τη γαλήνη σου.
20. Αν σε βάλει σε πειρασμό το δεξί σου χέρι, συγχώρεσέ το, είσαι και σώμα και ψυχή και είναι δύσκολο, αν όχι αδύνατο, να καθορίσεις το όριο που τα διαχωρίζει.
24. Να μη μεγαλοποιείς τη λατρεία της αλήθειας, δεν υπάρχει άνθρωπος που μέσα σε μια μονάχα μέρα, να μην είπε ψέματα φορές πολλές, έχοντας κάθε δίκιο.
25. Να μην ορκίζεσαι, γιατί ο όρκος είναι μονάχα έμφαση.
26. Να αντιστέκεσαι στο κακό, αλλά χωρίς φόβο και χωρίς πάθος. Σ’ αυτόν που θα σου χτυπήσει το δεξί μάγουλο, μπορείς να του γυρίσεις και τ’ άλλο, φτάνει να μην είναι ο φόβος που στο γυρίζει.
27. Εγώ δε μιλώ ούτε για εκδίκηση, ούτε για συγνώμη, η λησμονιά είναι η μόνη εκδίκηση και η μοναδική συγνώμη.
28. Το να κάνεις καλό στον εχθρό σου, μπορεί να είναι πράξη δικαιοσύνης και δεν είναι δύσκολο: να τον αγαπάς όμως, δεν είναι πράξη ανθρώπου, αλλά πράξη αγγέλου.
29. Κάνοντας καλό στον εχθρό σου, έχεις βρει τον καλύτερο τρόπο να ικανοποιήσεις τη ματαιοδοξία σου.

33. Δώσε τα άγια στα σκυλιά και ρίξε τα μαργαριτάρια σου στους χοίρους, αυτό που έχει σημασία είναι να δίνεις.
34. Ψάχνε, μόνο για νά ’χεις τη χαρά να ψάχνεις και όχι για τη χαρά πως βρίσκεις…
39. Η πύλη είναι εκείνη που διαλέγει, όχι ο άνθρωπος.

49. Ευτυχισμένοι όσοι συγκρατούν στη μνήμη τους τα λόγια του Βιργίλιου ή του Χριστού, γιατί τα λόγια αυτά θα φωτίζουν τη ζωή τους.
50. Ευτυχισμένοι όσοι αγαπιούνται κι όσοι αγαπούν κι όσοι μπορούν να ξεπεράσουν την αγάπη.

24. Να μη μεγαλοποιείς τη λατρεία της αλήθειας, δεν υπάρχει άνθρωπος που μέσα σε μια μονάχα μέρα, να μην είπε ψέματα φορές πολλές, έχοντας κάθε δίκιο.
25. Να μην ορκίζεσαι, γιατί ο όρκος είναι μονάχα έμφαση.
26. Να αντιστέκεσαι στο κακό, αλλά χωρίς φόβο και χωρίς πάθος. Σ’ αυτόν που θα σου χτυπήσει το δεξί μάγουλο, μπορείς να του γυρίσεις και τ’ άλλο, φτάνει να μην είναι ο φόβος που στο γυρίζει.
27. Εγώ δε μιλώ ούτε για εκδίκηση, ούτε για συγνώμη, η λησμονιά είναι η μόνη εκδίκηση και η μοναδική συγνώμη.

3. Desdichado el pobre en espíritu, porque bajo la tierra será lo que ahora es en la tierra.
